CULTURAL REPORT – INDIA 
      
   * India is a diverse and complex society! Over 15 national languages and 1600 dialects
   are spoken throughout the country. For instance, Hindi is spoken in the north and
   Tamil is a language found in the south.
       
   * Over 80% of Indians follow the Hindu tradition. Ganesh, the elephant god, can be
   found everywhere around the country as he helps people overcome obstacles. When
   attending company events, the Hindu god figures are often invoked to bring luck and
   success.
     
   * Spiritual and daily life activities intertwine in Indian society. Buddhism, Jainism,
   Sikhism, Islam, Christianity, and Judiasm comprise the other religious groups.
      
   * Building interpersonal relationships with Indians allows for more successful
   business interaction. In general Indians want to get to know you and learn about
   your culture. Have fun with them!
     
   * Many Indians communicate well in English, and learn British English in school.
   They can appear more indirect in their verbal and written style as compared to North
   Americans, the British, and Northern Europeans.
    
   * Many Indians are becoming wealthier and adapting western approaches. Tradition
   still plays a large role in the Indian mindset and shouldn’t be underestimated.
